Hi lovely reader!
Following lots of requests on my Facebook page (please come and join us, if you’re not already part of the gang – and you can also find me on twitter), I though it was high time I updated my list of books. It’s been a while since I did so, after all, and I have a couple new titles imminent, so here goes:
They start from book 1 (The Boy No-one Loved – about our first ever foster child, Justin – now a strapping grown up 🙂 ) and go pretty much chronologically from there. So if you’ve yet to read one, or have read a recent one and would like to go back and read the rest in order, this – with the exception of the teaching memoirs (see the asterisks and note below) – is the order in which to read them.
But do you need to read them in order? The short answer is no, you don’t. They are all stand-alone stories, recounting our experiences with individual children (and sometimes more than one at once) but if you read them in order, you’ll also be following the family chronologically too – all our various ups and downs; my wonderful grandchildren etc. – meaning it’ll be less confusing from that point of view. (Not to mention being less confusing when it comes to a very big decision we made during our journey….)
So it’s up to you! Either way, thank you so much for stopping by, and for reading my memoirs – and if anyone is helped, reassured, or feels they’ve learned something about childcare – or, indeed, is considering a career helping disadvantaged or vulnerable young people, it really does mean the world to me and Mike. As does the knowledge that my books are read by the very people us foster carers set out to help; those who’ve endured challenging and distressing childhoods themselves.
Anyway, here’s the up to date list, starting with the first book I wrote, about Justin. Just click on the link to read more:
FULL MENGTH MEMOIRS – available as both paperbacks and ebooks
9. SKIN DEEP
10. RUNAWAY GIRL
Teaching 1. *THE GIRL WITHOUT A VOICE
Teaching 2 *A STOLEN CHILDHOOD
Teaching 3 *MUMMY’S LITTLE SOLDIER
*Just to clarify, the teaching memoirs date back to the time when I was a behaviour manager in a comprehensive school, which I did for several years before deciding to foster. It was actually the job that inspired me to foster – running my ‘Unit’, as it was called, I was looking after the schools ‘misfits’ – the bullied and the bullies, the ones with special needs and/or emotional/psychological/family problems. The vulnerable kids, in short, that couldn’t cope with regular classes. It was a challenging job, often, but it was never, ever dull, and gave me that extra experience – and that vital push – to know I wanted to go the whole hog and welcome vulnerable kids into our home and lives. And then, of course, along came Justin…..
SHORT STORIES – in ebook format:
(NOTE: Angel With Dirty Faces is an anthology of five of my short stories, published as a ebook in the UK in January 2018. It it also published as a paperback in the USA (click here to pre-order) in January 2018, and in the UK later in the year.)
Remember, you don’t need a Kindle to read a Kindle ebook. If you have a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer, you can download the Kindle App FREE onto your device. (Get me, being all techy!) I think you can find it by clicking here…. , and then choosing the correct app for your device. You can also get my ebooks for nook and kobo too 🙂
Five of my books are currently available as audio books: THE SILENT WITNESS, RUNAWAY GIRL, SKIN DEEP, A STOLEN CHILDHOOD, AND NOWHERE TO GO. Simply click on the title link and the audio book option will be displayed. More will follow soon!
Phew! One day I really will learn how to add pictures to all the book titles. I kid you not! Tylerrrrrrrr!!!!!! 😉
